Jackass Collective

Jordyn, the creative force behind Jackass Collective, is a queer, disabled fibre artist celebrated for her bold use of color and texture. Embracing the philosophy that crafting is inherently political, she infuses her work with vibrant hues and rich textures, creating pieces that are both visually striking and deeply meaningful.

Jordyn’s journey into fibre arts began during the early days of the pandemic when she taught herself to crochet through YouTube tutorials. Initially working with acrylic yarn, she found the results unsatisfactory due to stiffness and sensory discomfort. This led her to explore knitting and experiment with natural fibers, which offered a more pleasing tactile experience.

Her approach to design is intuitive and freeform, often eschewing traditional patterns due to challenges with dyscalculia, a learning disability affecting numerical comprehension. Instead, Jordyn prefers to let her creations evolve organically, embracing mistakes as part of the creative process. She encourages others to “f**k around and find out,” believing that errors are valuable learning opportunities.

In addition to her fibre art, Jordyn is committed to supporting and collaborating with small businesses, reflecting her dedication to community and mutual growth. Through Jackass Collective, she offers a range of hand-dyed yarns, hand-spun fibers, and unique wearable pieces, all embodying her distinctive, unapologetically vibrant aesthetic.

Check out Jordyn on YouTube where she chats “Fibre Fckery” and “Yarn Yapping” Her down to earth, honest and raw personality will have you hooked.

Knicole Knits

Knicole Knits is the creative world of Knicole, an enthusiastic and obsessive knitter with a passion for making the fibre arts fun, approachable, and deeply satisfying. With thousands of hours of hands-on experience, Knicole has mastered a toolkit of top-notch techniques and loves sharing them through weekly tutorials filled with smart tips, interactive learning, and the occasional witty aside from her snarky dog, Oscar. Known for her engaging teaching style (and for knitting with a martini in hand), Knicole is on a mission to help crafters of all levels create brag-worthy projects.

Before yarn took over her life, Knicole taught adult sewing classes and designed everything from wedding dresses to quilted wall hangings. Now, she brings that same creative flair to knitting, tweaking existing designs with smart additions like pockets, collars, and pops of colour. She’s even dabbling in crochet and pattern design, with big plans to publish her own patterns soon.

Whether you’re picking up needles for the first time or looking to sharpen your skills, Knicole Knits is all about building confidence, having fun, and celebrating every stitch along the way.

Knitting Knerds Yarn Rescue

Knitting Knerds, founded by Zoe, Jane, and Terri, is like a secondhand bookstore—but for yarn! Based in the Tri-Cities and Metro Vancouver, they specialize in rescuing yarn and notions (like needles and patterns) that would otherwise go unloved or end up in landfills. Whether it’s unfinished COVID projects, baby wool from years ago, or inherited collections from grandmothers, Knitting Knerds gives yarn a new life.

They upcycle donated or sourced yarn, clean it, and offer it at affordable prices to beginner, eco-conscious, and thrifty crafters. Their goal is to make yarn accessible and sustainable. You can even swap your unwanted items for store credit, trading yarn you don’t need for something you love!

Knitting Knerds also sell kits for beginners using donated yarn and patterns, as well as handmade knitted and crocheted items created from the rescued yarn. They are passionate about supporting both new and seasoned crafters, helping them save money and the planet.
If you have yarn to donate, please reach out to them.

Living Lotus Chocolate

Audrey Wong, founder of Living Lotus Chocolate, is a passionate chocolate maker based in Vancouver who has spent over a decade perfecting the art of crafting ethical, plant-based treats. Her journey began after an inspiring trip to Maui, where she studied raw food and botany, eventually leading her to a raw food culinary and nutrition school. At Living Lotus, Audrey creates small-batch, bean-to-bar chocolate using only three ingredients and starting from ethically sourced, raw cacao beans from Peru and Ecuador. Her process—cracking, winnowing, grinding, aging, tempering, and molding—is all done by hand, ensuring every bar is made with intention and care. Mallory Donen

Mallory Donen is a multidisciplinary artist based in Vancouver. Her work explores the intersection of digital technology and traditional craft, using cross-stitch as a bridge between threads and pixels. Drawing on techniques passed down through generations of women in her family, Mallory reclaims slow, intentional making as a form of resistance to the fast-paced digital world.

With a BFA from the University of the Fraser Valley and an MFA from the University of Manitoba, Mallory creates work that is both conceptually rich and visually intricate. She embraces spontaneous computer glitches as creative starting points, transforming digital imperfections into meaningful hand-stitched artworks. This collaborative process between artist and machine challenges conventional ideas of failure, perfection, and process.

Mallory has exhibited nationally and internationally. She currently works from her studio at City Centre Artist Lodge in Mount Pleasant, where her dedication to slow craft continues to evolve through curiosity, experimentation, and care.

MorganMade

Jacquie, the artist behind MorganMade Canada, lives in North Vancouver and has always been inspired by the natural world, particularly trees and forests. Her journey began with watercolour painting, but her passion for textures led her to explore the world of natural dyes and fibres. Now, she creates unique, one-of-a-kind shawls and scarves made from silks, cottons, linens, and wool. Each piece is naturally dyed and beautifully infused with plants and leaves, reflecting her deep connection to nature and her excitement for the endless creative possibilities.

Pepper And Pin

Hand-stitched with care and intention, Pepper and Pip is the creative work of Vancouver-based maker Heather, who hand‑stitches vegan leather into notebooks, small bags and hair bows. Her materials come primarily from a local, female‑owned supplier in Burnaby, BC, ensuring each piece reflects both quality and community support.

After setting the Guinness World Record for the most spin classes in a year(yes really!) —often squeezing in 2–3 rides a day around a full‑time job—she began hand‑stitching as an evening ritual to decompress. What started as a simple hobby quickly became her passion, and today each handcrafted item tells a story of dedication, balance and the art of slowing down.

Her latest TV movie, "A Love Yarn," is a romantic comedy set in New Zealand, featuring yarn and sheep, available on CityTV and various streaming services.
